I give my highest recommendation to Mozo’s new guitar book My Fun Guitar. It is a thoroughly 21st-century approach to the guitar that is deeply rooted in a two centuries long tradition of guitar pedagogy. The 17 pieces of the book are masterfully composed in a progressive manner. The pieces gradually build on elements from the earlier examples, quickly bringing the student to playing concert level material worthy of guitarists at the highest level.
What distinguishes the pieces of My Fun Guitar from many of the other traditional choices for guitar repertoire is Mozo’s uniquely modern ability to seamlessly fuse the harmonic practices of the classical tradition with those of jazz, blues, rock, and pop styles. The composer’s lifelong experience with all of these styles enables him to integrate them into the compositions in a way that will connect with players from the classical tradition as well as players from the jazz and popular traditions.
I know you will enjoy Mozo’s My Fun Guitar as much as I have; I strongly recommend it for all guitarists.

Finally something new has arrived in the field of classic guitar teaching for young students and guitar teaching in general. I respect every attempt of introducing novelties in guitar teaching which is why I want to express my appreciation to Marko and Tina for their efforts.
I was genuinely intrigued by the story about Eric which Marko and Tina used as an approach to guide a young beginner into learning guitar. I like the fact that the student is introduced to polyphonic guitar playing already in the fifth song - Gladiator. Later on the learning progresses to intervals and chords. Introduction of playing blues and first steps to improvisation are a nice addition since blues presents the basis to all genres.
Going through 17 songs provides a gradual rise in complexity and since the songs are rhythmically diverse enough to please all tastes I have no doubt that this songbook will lead to success.
As a guitar player with years of experience I give my highest recommendation to My Fun Guitar songbook and I see the fact that the learning process is supported by videos on Youtube as an important added value.
I met Marko Mozetič in 2000 during his jazz studies at the Music Conservatory in Klagenfurt, Austria. I have forever kept his openness to various music genres as well as him being an exceptionally gifted musician and guitarist in my fondest memory.
Today, Marko is also a very successful composer. His new book includes many interesting and inspiring pieces for young guitar players. I wish Marko a lot of success in the future and plenty of joy to young musicians discovering his music.
My Fun Guitar is the first musical fairy tale aimed at young guitar players in Slovenia. The author thoughtfully invites children to read, listen, play and practise guitar and indulge in group music playing. It uses children’s favourite activities to accompany them into the world of music, which consists of fields of play as well as of meticulous repetition, as in Boredom. The fantastic journey through unknown places is a common concept in children’s literature, but Marko Mozetič – Mozo Pelican goes beyond simple, catchy songs and offers new, fresh tastes to young aspiring musicians by offering them entertaining modes, harmonies and rhythms. He dives into the child’s world in an innovative manner, using non-traditional musical elements, rarely adopted in curriculums to introduce music to young beginners. He skilfully uses his thorough knowledge of jazz and pop music to play chamber music in duets with his students.
My Fun Guitar will undoubtedly become a welcome addition to the official teaching books in any learning curriculum. Despite their light-hearted character, the songs are definitely not oversimplified. Some pieces require advanced technical and theoretical musical prowess.
The author encourages teachers to act on their own initiative and use creativity in teaching by presenting the fairy-tale content of the music pieces to their students. No literature or curriculum can actually do more for any student's progress than a teacher with a strong sense of interaction within the didactic triangle.
