3. General Design Requirements

To ensure optimal print quality and avoid common mistakes, please follow these specifications:

Accepted formats:

  • PDF, 600 dpiCMYK color
  • No color profiles (use Fogra 39 if avoiding color profiles is not possible)

Before exporting your final PDF:

  • Flatten all transparent objects
  • Convert all fonts to curves/vectors
  • Convert all shadows and gradients to bitmaps
  • Convert all bitmaps to CMYK before importing them into the PDF
  • Ensure 3 mm bleed and crop marks on all sides
  • Keep critical text and logos at least 3 mm inside the trim line

3. Back Cover Text

Example:

[Album title]

[Artist name]

[Program]

(Please use correct classical music formatting. Each composer’s name should include their birth and death years. Clearly distinguish main titles from movements — for example, by using italic text or indentation.)

  • Serif (for contrast or elegance): Playfair Display, Freight Text, or Garamond
  • Only use decorative and All-Caps fonts for titles if needed, not small text

Font size should be consistent across materials — typically 7–9 pt for credits and 10–12 pt for headings.

8. Vinyl Adaptation (if applicable)

If designing for vinyl, please include:

  • [Catalogue number]
